Boat Hook

A long pole fitted with a hook and sometimes a spike, used to fend off or draw in small boats, and readily repurposed as an improvised spear or hooking weapon in a boarding fight. Its length gave a reach advantage similar to a boarding pike. It was standard equipment on virtually every sailing vessel, pirate or otherwise.
